![]() Ustadji can play on his Shehnai, Aalaapi like Khayal-singing, Jhala like Sitar and Sarod, Tatkar like Kathak-dancers, Harqats like Sarangi and Violin, Continuity of tone like Been and also adds Sweetness of Bansuri to all this. But he had deeper association with Ustad Ali Baksh. ![]() His three maternal uncles Ustad Ali Baksh, Ustad Sadik Ali and Ustad Mian Vilatu slong with Ustad Mohammad Hussain, a vocalist from Delhi had been his Gurus. ![]() From his father ustad Paigambar Baksh side they were the shehnai - players of banke bihari Mandir of Dumaraon and from his maternal grandfather's side they were the Shehnai-players of Kashi Vishwanath Mandir of Varanasi. Ustad Bismillah Khan was born on 21 March 1916 in Dumaraon village in Bihar. The Samaaj Purush (people) present at the occasion deliver the human blessings and Shehnai invites the divine. The happening requires blessings of both human and divine. Two lives unite, two families come together. ![]() Shaadi (marriage) is an association of two beings for the lifetime. The tone of a Shehnai brings blessings in the atmosphere. All the important events of an Indian life, a birth, a marriage, a religious festival, a social gathering, etc. Shehnai creates a Mangal Dhwani, and auspicious sound, Ustad Bismillah Khan elevated Shehnai to the rank of a classical concert instrument. Shehnai is an old wind instrument associated with the temples of India.
